Mail frames
Folders, filters, search, the Compose chip, reading, pinned sets, and bulk actions.
A mail frame is one folder of one account with a filter on top. Several side by side become a triage system: one for today, one for newsletters, one for the thread you are babysitting.
Folders
The folder picker in the frame’s utility row: Inbox, Starred, Sent, Archived, Trash, Drafts, Spam — and Subscriptions, a computed view of senders you can unsubscribe from. Switching folders clears the frame’s search.
Filters
The filter popover narrows by tag, sender, date range, attachments, read state, and reply state: replied, no response yet, awaiting my reply. “Everything awaiting my reply” is one frame away — or one sentence to Hedwig: “make a mail frame for unread from stripe.com since March”.
Search this frame
The search field narrows the frame’s result, not just its pixels — badges, sets and piles follow it. Esc clears it.
Compose
The Compose chip in the header opens the Reply Studio for a new message from this frame’s account. See Reading and writing mail.
Reading
Click a row: the frame becomes the reader. Wide frames keep the list beside the email (split view); narrow ones show the reader alone. Threads show a strip of their siblings; click one to swap. Right-click a row for the verbs: reply, tag, defer, dismiss, and more.
Sets and bulk actions
Drag vertically inside a frame to select rows; Shift + click extends. Archive, star, mark read, tag — bulk actions run as one call per account, with Select all N when the set is bigger than the page.
Pinned frames
Some mail frames are pinned: a frozen set rather than a filter — the emails a to-do came from, or a set the agent found for you. Their chrome is locked and they show “x of n” honestly if something has since left the pool.
Several accounts
Each frame is one account; add frames for the others, or ask Hedwig for a frame on a named account. Mail composed from a frame sends as that frame’s account.
